       Notes - general: Abstract: The bentonite tunnellig system is shortly to
                        be used to drive part of a sewer tunnel at Warrington,
                        Cheshire.  This Note describes experiments with a
                        horizontal permeameter carried out to determine the
                        distance to which the ground is likely to be
                        penetrated by the bentonite slurry.  For comparison
                        purposes two other materials were tested as well as
                        the Warrington sand, through which the tunnel is to be
                        driven.
