Notes - general: Maintaining a road network, in an acceptable condition
while minimising the resources used, is a complex
management task. To help with this task, the
Transport and Road research Laboratory has developed a
computer model which will simulate, over time, the
structural stae of a road network as it deteriorates
and is treated. To assess the model's potential, a
working group consisting of engineers drawn from two
Local Authorities and the department of Transport, was
set up to examine its application to local road
networks. This paper briefly describes the model and
how it works, and gives the working groups conclusions
                        and recommendations.
