       Notes - general: This report on the Bridgemill arch had a rise/span
                        ratio of approximately 1:6.5 and the structure was in
                        good condition.  The Bargower arch by contrast was
                        semi-circular and, superficially at least, in rather
                        poor repair.  It was considered, therefore, that a
                        test on the latter structure would usefully enlarge
                        the limited amount of information available on the
                        strength nd behaviour of such structures.
