                        of rivers due to surface-water discharges from
                        newly-built sections of A74(M) motorway in south-west
                        Scotland.  A method for assessing the theoretical
                        risks of pollution of road drainage is compared with
                        the results of discharge monitoring.  The impact of
                        motorway runoff on the invertebrate fauna of
                        watercourses is also investigated.
