| Notes | This paper discusses the perceived research needs in road aggregates for the next ten years. A fairly wide range of possibilities for research exists, but, because of finite resources for research the topics considered to be of top priority for work at the Laboratory are 1 to define what is meant by clean, hard and durable aggregates for bitmen macadams, 2 to survey the incidence of alkali-silica reaction in concrete roads, and 3 to carry out research aimed at reducing the frost susceptibility of sub-base gravels. The views of interested persons outside the laboratory on the review would be welcomed. |
