This report reviews the effects of introducing quality assurance procedures by companies supplying hot mixed bitumenous materials; the benefits for the suppliers areand for the customers are discussed. Compliance monitoring remains an important requirement and the effect of using materials with standards is considered. Recommendations are made for the Department to take a lead in the introduction and auditing of quality assurance procedures for suppliers, contractors and agents in the road construction industry.
