Long Term Performance of Concrete Box Structures

Research Organisation  Transport Research Laboratory

Description

Concrete box structures are often used as culverts and underpasses through highway embankments. The objectives were to identify causes of deterioration of these structures and to develop a whole life cost model.

The researchers surveyed the field performance of concrete box structures in five counties. Measurements of chemical content of the water carried through culverts were made over a 2-year period.
