Notes - general: Abstract: This report isconcerned with a study ofGrade
Separated Junctions undertaken in 1990/91. Findings
from extensive survey related to how driver behave at
current designs of merges, diverges and weaving
sections on motorways and all-purpose roads. A
notable feature is the incidence of "turbulance" in
traffic flow caused by merging and diverging traffic.
This turbalance affects all mainline traffic and
reduces lane capacity on the mainline. This leads to
flow brakdown at busy times, affecting all traffic.
